Russia leads the Eurovision Song Contest

“Buranovskiye Babushki” even before its arrival in Baku created interest among the loyal fans of Eurovision. But after the first rehearsal, when journalists saw the Russian artists’ live performance, the excitement increased.

According to a journalist voting, which traditionally takes place daily in the press center of the competition, Russia gets first place. Therefore we can say that the contest has the main favorite. In the same press center journalists constantly sing “Cmon and dance, cmon and dance”. Some people sing in unison, sitting with colleagues at the bar, others mumble chorus while writing articles. Party for everybody has become a popular ring tone in the press center.

By coincidence the Vesti.Ru reporter was in the bus of the Irish delegation, where she met the Jedward brothers. As soon as they learned that they were with a journalist from Russia, they attacked her with questions about “Buranovskiye Babushki”. The Irish artists wanted to know about the translation of the song .Also they wanted to see their favorite grannies or “Buranovskiye Babushki” as soon as possible. Later at the press conference Jedward told reporters that Russia would win.

This point of view is shared by British journalists, who wear T-shirts with “Babushki”. They liked the Eurovision in Moscow and they want to go back there.

Immediately after the rehearsal the European journalists wrote in their blogs: “Babushkas from Russia are rocking Eurovision 2012! big big wow!!!!!!”. Facebook is full of questions about the Russian stove: “What's the white box on stage supposed to be?”

The press conference of the Russian delegation was full. It began not with a question, but with a gift from journalists. Our colleague from South Africa presented to each member of the group a CD with the cover song Party for everybody in Afrikaans. The main theme of the day in the press center was the Russian party, which will take place on May 20th.

Everybody talks about “Buranovskiye Babushki” in Baku. The local taxi drivers are confident that Russia will win the hotel employees send grannies greetings and ask for autographs. In the dining room of the press center Party for everybody is played. We hope that all these predictions will come true.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be held in Baku from May 22 to May 26. “Buranovskiye Babushki” will perform in the first semi-final at number 14. Vesti.ru and TV channel "Russia 1" will broadcast live the semi-finals and finals of the competition.
